Humanity sure is a funny species. We hold so much against each other and expect much more. However, as we evolve, we realize the ridiculousness of some of our expectations. What was once considered taboo is now thought of as a completely normal thing to do. Gone are the days of shaming mothers for breastfeeding their babes in public. But that’s not all. Here are 12 situations that prove we are evolving into a much more accepting species.
1. Free the nip, and feed the baby!
Only a few years ago, women were shunned in public for breastfeeding their babies out in public. For some odd reason, it made people extremely uncomfortable to see a woman’s nipple, even though it was doing one of the most natural things known to humankind. Luckily for all future moms, it is completely normal these days to feed your baby wherever you like.
2. We spend way too much time surfing the web
Previously, we only used the internet when we had a school project or a business proposal to write up. However, these days we are constantly online. Social media, news bulletins, interesting articles, you name it.
3. Women can ask men out on dates now!
Women used to have to wait for men to call them first. But these days, we are on equal footing in the dating department. If you like the guy, call them!
4. Hairy legs? No problem
Did you know that women only shaved their legs when because WWII resulted in a shortage of silk and nylon stockings? Silk was imported from Japan, which was not happening during the war. Additionally, nylon was being used for other reasons. Now, women are forgoing their razors and letting their hair grow naturally.

5. Have the last slice, you know you want it
Indulging in the last slice of pizza at a party was once considered greedy. But now, not eating the last slice is considered wasteful. Eat the pizza; you know you want to.
6. Music is easily downloaded
In older times, not too long ago, people would have to visit a music store to buy their favorite record, cassette tape, or even CD. Now, we can easily download music to our smartphone or laptop. As simple as that. In fact, you’re probably streaming more than downloading these days!
7. Climate change is unavoidable
The rise in temperatures was once considered a myth or a phenomenon none of us had to worry about in our lifetimes. But, now, it is a reality we are facing today, and no one can avoid it.
We are undeniably lost without a cell phone
Before cell phones existed, people used to make use of maps to get to a new places. Today many people cannot get by without google maps or a similar app. We are literally lost without our phones.
8. We have more power over service providers
There was once a time when we had to put up with subpar service. Now, social media and the internet allow us to give (and receive) instant feedback. We can leave reviews in an instant. This in turn, keeps businesses on their toes.
9. Smoking is now considered tabboo
Smoking was once a fashion statement. In the 1980s, you could not walk into a bar without fumigating your lungs. Even if you didn’t smoke, you had to put up with it. Now, it is illegal to smoke indoors, and people will often give you a dirty look if you’re smoking in public.
10. Blockbuster is a thing of the past
It used to be an exciting excursion to visit a blockbuster and rent a movie. Now, we have endless entertainment at the click of a button. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and many more apps have made it easy to sit back and relax.
11. No more mysterious bathroom missions
Women were once observed as mysteries. They often had to excuse themselves to touch up their makeup because doing it in front of people was just weird. Now, women can slap on some lipstick right at the dinner table.
12. No shame in showing some skin
Before the body positivity movement started, people were made to cover themselves up to maintain a level of respect. But now we can show off our legs or our soft tummies with pride!
