With so many different dog breeds out there, each one as lovable as the last, it’s hard to pick a favorite. Some people may prefer big dogs, some medium, or some small, but the one thing we can all agree on is how much joy dogs bring us.
The Cartoon Guide To Dog Breeds
Grace Gogarty, a St. Louis based artist took her love for dogs and created a handy, tongue-in-cheek guide on dogs she’s met, from small to large.
“Sadly, I haven’t met every dog in the word yet, so I couldn’t write about them all,” Grace told Bored Panda. “Although I stereotype them, all dogs are wonderful individuals, so I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite breed!”

Small Dogs

Let’s start with these little guys. But don’t let their size fool you, good boys do come in small packages.
Shiba Inu: These are tough little guys can have a bit of an attitude, and they’ll let you hear it,
Chihuahua: These guys can be a mixed bag and can take some time to warm up to new people.
Pug: A favorite of the internet, these little guys love to eat and always know when you’re about to sit down for a bite.
Shih tzu: They’re always looking for affection, but can be a bit on the stinky side.
Bulldog: Sometimes they don’t know how they feel, but there is wisdom in those rolls.
Daschund: Also known as a weiner dog, these guys just want to be able to get on the couch on their own.
Maltese: A very regal looking breed but they love to lounge like the rest of us.
Yorkshire Terrier: Another breed that seems to change their mind at a moment’s notice, they’ll definitely keep you on your toes.
Bichon Frise: Fluffy like a happy cloud on a sunny day.

Popular Medium Dog Breeds

Yellow Labs: These guys are the definition of goofy but loveable.
Brown Labs: These guys are perfect if you love to live an active lifestyle because you’ll need to keep up.
Black Labs: Fiercely loyal, black Labs are the more collected of the three.
Border Collies: Traditionally these dogs were field dogs, so they love to work and are extremely smart.
Poodles and Doodles: These dogs are highly intelligent, but that doesn’t mean they’ll listen to you the first time.
Pitbulls: One of the most misunderstood breeds (there are no bad breeds, just bad owners), these dogs can be sweet and engaging or tend to keep to themselves.
Boxers: They don’t always get along with other dogs, but love being involved in everything you do. Hopefully you don’t mind using the bathroom with an audience.
Hound Dogs: They love naps as much as cats do.

Akita: These guys are very loyal and will stick by you through anything, much like their fur. It gets everywhere.
Rottweiler: Another one of those breeds that gets a bad rap. They may look and act tough, but that’s mostly just for show.
Great Dane: Marmaduke just scratches the surface of the antics these dogs can get up to. You’ll also have to keep the doggie treats on the highest shelf you have.
Bermese Moutain Dog: These dogs tend to act like they’re still puppies and will jump all over you any chance they get.
Golden Retriever: One of the most recognizable breeds, these guys love affection and will want to be with you every second.
Doberman: Known to be classic guard dogs, they really are more bark than bite.
Husky: Huskies have one of the closest relationship to their ancestors, wolves. so they love to sing and howl. They also need loads of exercise or they’ll take out their energy on your furniture.
German Shepherd: They love to bark at anything that moves outside of their domain, your home.
Newfoundland: They’re a big, slobbering mess but they’re your big, slobbering mess.
These may not be the most accurate description of each dog breed, but it goes to show just how much of a personality that dogs have. No two act exactly the same, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
