Betrayal can be one of the worst feelings in the world, and one that no one should have to endure. The worst is when the person betraying you is the one you love the most, like your boyfriend. Two women found out the worst way that they had both been betrayed by the man they were dating. As the story goes, he had been dating both of them at the same time. But neither of them knew the other existed. That is until he was caught. In an act of empowerment, the two set off on a breakup holiday to heal their wounded hearts.
“Is he your boyfriend?“
Faith Bistline was about to turn 30 years old. She had planned a trip to Costa Rica with her boyfriend of 18 months that she was eagerly awaiting. There were only a few weeks to go until they were immersed in a tropical paradise to celebrate her coming of age. Then, everything changed thanks to a message from a stranger on Facebook.
The birthday trip then turned into a breakup holiday for two. The message read: “Is he your boyfriend?” referring to a picture Faith had posted with herself and her man. The message continued saying: “Because he’s been dating my friend for the past 10 months.”
No doubt, this message came as a shock for Faith. She showed a screenshot of the message to her boyfriend, but he did not respond. After some investigating, she found that her man had two girlfriends. Herself, and another woman named Emely Ortiz. Not long after that, Emily herself made contact with faith.
She sent a text saying she believed she had been with her boyfriend for 10 months and was under the impression they were exclusively, and officially, together. “I just want to know how long you guys have been dating for,” Emely asked. “Did he ever mention me to you or you had no clue.”

“Freaking me out“
Faith finally plucked up the courage to reply. She mentioned that she had no idea about her boyfriend’s other girlfriend and that he was not replying to her screenshot. “I had no idea,” she wrote in response to Emely’s question. “This is sorta freaking me out. We’ve been dating almost a year and a half. I’m trying to give him the opportunity to explain himself to me but he’s not responding to me right now.”
Faith said that when the boyfriend eventually he replied, he said, “I guess I have some explaining to do,” with a half-laughing emoji. she said she found it sickening that he thought this was a funny situation. Emely, on the other hand, wanted to confront him in person. So, she rocked up at his apartment where she waited for an entire day, but he did not show. Only the next evening did she find him there. His reasoning was that he should “never have let it get so out of hand.” That was their last straw. Thus, the breakup holiday was inspired.
Breakup holiday
Now that the cat was out of the bag for the unidentified boyfriend, Faith decided to invite Emely to her meant-to-be 30th birthday celebration in Costa Rica. If you’re serious about Costa Rica, let me know. I’m dead serious about bringing you instead of him lol,” texted Faith.
To which Emely replied, “Yes I’m serious about Costa Rica we need a vacation after this.” Not long after that, the two were boarding a plan to a tropical beach breakup holiday of a lifetime. Faith said, “I didn’t want to go alone. I was thinking it would probably help us both to go on a trip like this. We deserve this after what we’ve gone through.”
At first, Emely admitted she had her doubts when Faith made the offer for the breakup holiday. “At first I was like, this girl is crazy,” said Emely. “But I just thought, it might be good for us to heal together because we’re the only two people who know what we went through.”
