An individual sparked quite a pointless but heated debate on social media when he disclosed that he cleaned his toilet seat by putting it in the dishwasher. Yes, we get it- it’s frankly quite disgusting, but since it is a social platform, anything apparently goes. This video was shared by a TikToker by the account of @alisonkoroly- who used to share life hacks on the platform (guess who will not have any followers in the near future?)
Last year, there was a similar case on TikTok- a mother revealed that she used to clean her toilet brush in the dishwasher. “I clean my toilet brush in the dishwasher every few months. I just put the brush and holder in, on their own, on a hot wash and they come out like new. A friend popped by this morning for coffee, and I opened the dishwasher to get out a couple of mugs, forgetting that I had put the toilet items in last night. She totally freaked out, saying this is totally disgusting, and re-washed the mugs I had then taken out from the cupboard AND poured boiling water on them before she would allow me to make her coffee!! Was my friend being unreasonable? The mugs and loo bush were washed in separate loads.”

This one, though, takes the cake. The video showed a man, Wes- presumably her husband- who was removing a toilet seat to clean it. All of us must have thought that the man would be spraying some disinfectant on it and wiping it like the rest of us mortals, but he had different ideas. The husband placed the toilet seat in the dishwasher. The very same dishwasher, where the family cleans their dishes. For those who are still not clear about what is so disgusting about it- the dishes in the dishwasher are for eating. Now read the paragraph again.

Needless to say, this latest toilet seat cleaning video blew up and has already crossed 2 million views on the social media platform. And considering how snarky the population is these days- one can simply assume the comments that were posted under the video. One user commented, “I’m never buying a second hand dishwasher.” While another user mentioned, “Bruh. Not with the dishes in it already. Please god no.” A third poster commented, “I’d never put that there, where my plates and forks etc. goes into. [I don’t care] how clean it gets.”
Another individual posted, “I don’t care how hot it gets or how much soap is used, that dishwasher is forever tainted.” Surprisingly, there were others who thought that this toilet seat hack was amazing and quite creative. While one can agree that the process is much faster, it is still a toilet seat in a dishwasher. The principle alone on it makes it disgusting.
For those wondering, her friend was being completely reasonable. And apparently, dishwashers are being sold to the wrong demographic. They should apparently be marketed as toilet seat cleaners.
