How is your eyesight? Do you think you do well with optical illusions? We found a vintage bear graphic with a hidden man somewhere in the image, and it has been stumping the internet. Can you find him?
Optical illusions have been around for a long time. In fact, they have been around for longer than you might think! It was way back around 550 BC when Epicharmus first presented the explanation of optical illusions and how they work. Epicharmus believed that even if our mind is capable of understanding everything clearly, the sensory organs deceive us and basically show us something different. Views differed, of course. Another philosopher Protagoras believed that itâs our environment that fools us â not our senses.Â
Fast forward 200 years or so, and Aristotle and Plato joined the discussion. They added thoughts about how reality and our senses are effectively controlled by our mind and sensory organs. Basically, the mind is a wild and crazy thing, and what we see may need a bit of brain work to figure out.
Some things arenât always what they seem at fist glance. For example, this image of a bear with a hidden man somewhere within. When your eyes take in all the lines and curves, your brain says âAha! Bear!â But, if we critique and really examine what is going on within the image, we may start to notice some lines and curves that shouldnât be there.
Can you Find the Hidden Man?
This specific optical illusion is titled âWhere is my Master?â and apparently dates back to the 1880s. These vintage drawings were popular games for children, but they also stumped plenty of adults. Somewhere in this drawing is the bearâs master. Are you able to find the hidden man?
We will give you a hint: look for the curving lines within the drawing. Have you found him yet?

Are you ready? If you think you found him, or if you have given up and want us to reveal the answer, look below!
According to ancient philosophers as well as modern scientists, the brain is an incredible thing. It shapes our realities, and creates images for us to comprehend in the simplest way possible. Our memories and environment can affect what we see and how we respond to it as well, to a certain extent. The best way to solve these kinds of optical illusions is to look for the abnormality. Search for something that doesnât quite belong, and it should lead your brain into solving the rest of the problem. If you would have started with the tip of the nose for the hidden man, you surely wouldâve found the rest f him.
