Special needs boy is rejected before school dance, only to have date show up, making mom lose it

As a teen, one of the most damaging things that can happen to your social life is not being able to find a date for your school’s homecoming dance. School dances are the highlight of many kids’ school careers, making it a necessity to find a dance partner. A kid born with special needs was desperately searching for a date. But, after facing a ton of rejection from many girls in his year, he got a big surprise

A Simple Act of Kindness

Arizona-based Daniel Revis was 17 years old and was looking forward to his school’s homecoming. He and most kids at his school were feverishly searching for the right person to accompany him to his school dance. The only difference between him and his schoolmates was that Revis was born with Down Syndrome. Daniel tried, again and again, to ask girls to be his date, but they all turned him down. As the date loomed closer and closer, Daniel couldn’t help but feel disheartened at the rejection he had received.

Then, Kylie, one of his schoolmates, heard of his struggles to find a date. She extended a simple act of kindness to make his homecoming experience a great one. She made a poster, bought some balloons, and approached him in front of everyone at school. Then, she asked him if he wanted to accompany her to homecoming. This made Daniel so happy to know he wouldn’t have to go alone.

Fox News Surprise Squad Heard their Homecoming Story

The Fox5 Surprise Squad heard wind of Kylie’s simple act of kindness. They decided to make Daniel and Kylie’s homecoming experience even more amazing by showing up at Daniel’s home while they took their pre-dance photos. Kylie was noticeably flabbergasted they arrived, and Daniel stood in awe when he saw the cameramen. The presenters interviewed Kylie, who said she didn’t see disabilities, she only saw a different way of learning. “I don’t think of kids that have a disability as being different,” said Kylie. “I think of them just being a normal person, learning in a different way.”

The Fox5 Surprise Squad then added to the night by hiring a Royals Royce to drive them to the dance. The night was slowly becoming a dream homecoming experience that very few get to have. Not only that, but they even had a reservation for a fancy bistro restaurant that Daniel’s mom had always wanted to go to, but could not afford. “I usually drive past here often, but always think it’s completely impossible to bring the kids here because it’s so expensive,” Daniel’s mom told Fox5.

More Homecoming Surprises!

If you thought that the Royals Royce and fancy dinner was a big gift, get ready. The Fox5 Surprise Squad had more surprises up their sleeves. As they arrived at the Homecoming dance, the Fox5 team rolled out a red carpet for them, and they were greeted by a lot of cheering. During the dance, the presenter for the Surprise squad told the whole grade that Fox News was going to send both Kylie and Daniel and their families, to Disney Land. Kylie could not help herself and clapped her hand to her head in surprise.

Additionally, Fox5 had a check for Daniel, which included a $10,000 scholarship for him to attend college. This was a lifelong dream of his. One that was now possible. Then the owner of Nissan United, who had heard their story, told everyone to walk outside, for they had more to give.

But, that was not the end of it! The Fox5 Surprise Squad had one more gift for Kylie, which everyone had to walk outside to see. Thanks to her big heart and generosity in making one boy’s homecoming dream come true, they gifted her with a brand new set of Nissan wheels. “All you had to do was watch the [original] news story that aired, and you saw a young lady with a huge heart, and she was inspirational,” said Don Forman, the owner of United Nissan, as he explained why they gave her such a grand gift.
