Sharon Stone reveals doctors found ‘large fibroid tumor’ after ‘another misdiagnosis and incorrect procedure’

Doctors may do some amazing things, but they are fallible human beings. This is why many people choose to get second opinions because one of the worst mistakes a doctor can make is a misdiagnosis, which is what happened to Sharon Stone.

Sharon Stone’s misdiagnosis

Sharon Stone is popularly known for her role in the film “Basic Instinct“. Her health has not been an easy achievement for her, having had scares in the past. Recently, she made a post on Instagram about a pretty serious misdiagnosis. Surprisingly, this is not the first time.

She was experiencing some severe pain, so she went to see her doctor. There, she was told what the pain was, but it wasn’t entirely the case. It was completely wrong. Instead of believing what she was told, she went for a second appointment with a different doctor. It turned out, her doctor misdiagnosed her, and she had a large fibroid tumor.

Just had another misdiagnosis and incorrect procedure,” she tweeted on November 1st. “This time double epidural. With worsening pain went for a SECOND OPINION: I have a large fibroid tumor that must come out.”

Don’t get blown off,” says Sharon Stone

In the Instagram story update, Sharon Stone said she is recovering, and suggests it’s going well. “I’ll be down for 4-6 weeks for full recovery. [thanks] for your care. It’s all good,” read her post.

Sharon Stone urges her fans, particularly women, to get a second opinion. “it can save your life,” she says. She tweeted that women are far more likely to be misdiagnosed than men are. This is an issue she says can be prevented by getting another doctor’s advice. She included a link to a website that explained: “Women More Likely Than Men to Suffer Misdiagnosis, According to Studies.”

Fibroid Tumors

A fibroid tumor is 99% not cancerous, nor do they increase the chances of a woman’s uterus becoming cancerous. Although, one-third of fibroid tumors can be detected by a doctor and they can cause a series of symptoms.

The symptoms of a fibroid tumor include: irregular periods, pain in the pelvis and lower back, bloating and stomach discomfort, difficulty urinating, pain or discomfort while having sex, fertility problems, and strenuous bowel movements. Additionally, one might experience dizziness, fatigue, and lethargy.
