A psychic medium from Plymouth, Devon, claims her nights out are being disrupted not by alcohol, but by the voices of the dead. Zerah Fleming, 31, asserts that spirits communicate with her while she’s socializing, urging her to go bar-hopping to deliver messages from the afterlife.
Spirits Compel Bar-Hopping
Zerah Fleming explains that she often hears voices from the dead during her nights out, compelling her to move from bar to bar to relay messages to strangers. “I keep having to make excuses to my friends about why we need to switch locations,” she says, admitting she often tells them she simply changed her mind.
Instead, Fleming claims, it’s the spirits making her down her drink and leave, urging her to connect with their loved ones. “I feel like a kind of supernatural postie,” she says, describing her role in conveying these messages.

Awakening the Psychic Gift
Fleming’s journey into the world of psychic mediumship began about five years ago when her abilities “woke up.” Since then, she has learned to manage these intrusive spiritual communications. “I’ve found the off switch for these talkative ghosts,” she notes, though she acknowledges the persistent nature of some spirits.
Not Your Typical Spirits
Unlike the usual spirits that encourage a drink and bar-hop, Fleming’s experiences are quite different. “If I tried to ignore it, the voice would get louder and more persistent,” she explains. She often feels a compulsion to visit specific bars, later realizing it was to deliver a message to someone there.
Mixed Reactions
Approaching strangers with messages from the dead elicits mixed reactions. Fleming recounts, “Sometimes they were taken aback and sometimes it scared people, but in the majority of cases, it’s a very welcome response.”

Family Legacy
Fleming’s psychic abilities appear to be a family trait. Her father and mother, who passed away in 2019 and 2022 respectively, also had psychic gifts. She recalls her first spiritual communication two weeks after her father’s death when he warned her to lock the door to prevent an intruder and later helped her avoid a car accident.
Overwhelming but Not Scary
While many might find talking to spirits frightening, Fleming does not. “People think it would be scary, but it can be overwhelming, especially when I didn’t know how to turn it off,” she shares. The overwhelming nature of the gift can be frustrating, particularly during social outings.
Support and Privilege – An Unusual Encounter
Fleming appreciates the support from those who know her, stating that her business began through word of mouth from friends. “I feel privileged to have this gift and use it to help people,” she says, encouraging skeptics to keep an open mind. “Everyone is entitled to their belief, but I wouldn’t knock it until you’ve tried it once.” So, if someone approaches you at a bar with a message from a deceased relative before quickly moving on, it might just be Zerah Fleming, guided by spirits to pass along their message.
