Miley Cyrus, a household name for many generations. From toddlers to millennials and even some boomers. This singer-songwriter has wedged her way into the hearts of millions of people around the world. Previously known as Hannah Montanna, Myley has quite literally reinvented her stage persona into a sassy and confident woman. Recently, she broke the hearts of many fans by revealing her desire to quit touring. She no longer has the desire to perform lengthy missions across the globe, let alone her own country.
Miley Cyrus Wishes to Stop Touring
Much like the infamous Madonna, Miley Cyrus has never shied away from reinventing herself. Throughout her career, she has undergone a remarkable transformation from her cute and hilarious Disney Channel character, Hannah Montana, to a bold, autonomous artist who embraces the unique side of life. Her love for music equates to her passion for pushing boundaries, and she has been adored for her work in the music industry.
Her concerts and tours are generally sell-out events, with many fans disappointed at being unable to buy a ticket. However, that is soon to reach a whole other level, as Cyrus has announced a tragic turn of events. She no longer has a “desire” to continue touring as a performer. In an interview with British Vogue, Miley explained her reasons. “After the last [tour] I did, I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can’t,” she said. “‘Not only can’t, because can’t is your capability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfillment other than my own?’

This has obviously left her fans from around the world feeling shocked. Her last international tour was in 2014, which is now nine years ago. Many were waiting with anticipation for her next big tour, and now they feel it was all in vain. Miley Cyrus explained she no longer feels safe to perform for thousands of people. “Like, singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love. There’s no connection. There’s no safety,” she said. “It’s also not natural. It’s so isolating because if you’re in front of 100,000 people, then you are alone.”
Miley Has a Deeper Connection With Her Fans
Miley Cyrus went onto Instagram to address her fans after her big announcement that she no longer wishes to tour. She said: “For clarity, I feel connected to my fans NOW more than ever. Even if I don’t see them face to face every night at a concert, my fans are felt deeply in my heart. I’m constantly creating and innovating new ways that I can stay connected to the audience I love – without sacrificing my own essentials.”
She went on to say, “Performing for you has been some of the best days of my life,” the rough logistics of touring – sleeping on a bus and packing up her “archival” fashion – are less than ideal. “This has nothing to do with a lack of appreciation for the fans (and) everything to do with I simply don’t want to get ready in a locker room,” she wrote.
She concluded that her life has been about change and that her decision to quit touring could change as well. “It isn’t what’s best for me right NOW, (and) if you’ve been following my career you know that I always change and the way I feel about that could too,” said Miley Cyrus. “Love you forever, I’m just on my Endless Summer Vacation.”
