It shows as a reminder that even the most glamorous celebrities are human beings with their own struggles too. Having survived 28 years of marriage, while juggling a career alongside health issues, Jada Pinkett Smith has decided to write a memoir. She highlights the theme of the book in the title, “complicated marriage to Will Smith.”

Jada Pinkett Smith is writing a memoir

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett have been in and out of the headlines this year. If you don’t remember, during the Oscars earlier this year, Will marched onto the stage and slapped Chris Rock across the face in front of the entire audience, including those watching on their TVs. This was following a joke that Chris made using Jada’s bald head as a reference. Whether he knew of Jada’s struggles with alopecia is unknown.

Even though Will Smith crossed a boundary, Jada still wished for him and Chris Rock to reconcile. “Now, about Oscar night, my deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out, and reconcile. The state of the world today? We need them both, and we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening.”

The dust has officially settled around the Cris Rock and Will Smith slap incident. Now, Jada Pinkett Smith has announced her intentions to write a memoir of her life, and her complicated marriage. A statement was made in a press release. “With no holds barred, Jada reveals her unconventional upbringing in Baltimore — from the child of two addicts to a promising theatre student and a violent interlude as a petty drug-dealer — followed by a parallel rise to stardom alongside her close friend 2Pac, then falling in love with and marrying Will Smith, and a joyous embrace of motherhood.”

Two love stories

Jada Pinkett Smith has written a deeply descriptive book about the love stories within her life. Not only that, but she describes her connection to a long-term friend, the late rapper, 2pac. However, there are two love stories that stand out in the majority of the book. “At the heart of this powerful book are two unexpected love stories, one being Jada’s complicated marriage to Will Smith, the other being the one with herself.”

Later on in the book, she talks about her own personal struggles. hey started getting worse when she was about 40 years old. The publisher, Dey streets, described this section of the book. “In crisis at age 40,” they said. “Jada recounts the excruciating choices she was forced to make to redefine her life in every way.”

According to Carrie Thornton, a publisher at Dey Streets, Jada Pinkett Smith intends to clarify any misconceptions made of her by the media. She described how Jada had to manage the expectations of society, as well as her role in the public’s eye. “The world has imposed many labels and narratives on Jada Pinkett Smith. This is down to the realities of our media landscape, but also the roles thrust upon women by culture. At the center of all the speculation and false stories is a woman who, like so many women, has had to reconcile her personhood with the needs of those she loves.”
