The memoirs of Matthew Perry

During the heyday of Friends, Matthew Perry was perpetually struggling with addiction. He faced difficulties within himself which led to a tumultuous time in his acting career. The Friends actor was juggling two major things in his life. The pressure of being the funny guy (in a TV sitcom that became a global phenomenon) coupled with his growing problems with addiction was crippling him. Perry has been writing out a memoir of his life, including all triumphs, trials, and tribulations.

At last, he announced on Instagram that his memoirs is complete. Matthew Perry posted a photo of a stack of written pages. These were the manuscript for his memoirs. A sign they were complete. If that wasn’t obvious enough, Perry added a caption, which incorporated his iconic humor. “My ego doesn’t like that I have to stop writing about myself. But the book is now done. In the caption, he wrote: “So much has been written about me in the past. I thought it was time people heard from me. The highs were high, the lows were low. But I have lived to tell the tale, even though at times it looked like I wouldn’t. And it’s all in here. I apologize it’s not a pop up book.”

The book reveals all

Matthew Perry did not hold back while writing this book. It is said to open up about some very intimate and personal facts about his own struggles. Furthermore, he spoke about some of the drama that happened behind the scenes of ‘friends’. Perry says that his intention is for those who relate to his story to find comfort in that.

Megan Lynch, who works for Flatiron Publications spoke about the book’s potential in a new release last year. She said: “We need humor, we need catharsis, and we need to agree on something — and Matthew’s extraordinary story, told in his inimitable voice, is that thing. Matthew’s book has unrivaled potential to bring people together, which feels especially galvanizing right now, a time of isolation and division.”

“He wants to recount his experiences, both good and bad to help others. And set the record straight over a number of incidents that were either untold until now, taken out of context. Or, in some cases, totally twisted the wrong way and needing complete clarification,” a source told Us Weekly, explaining Matthew Perry’s intention behind his book.

The source added: “He’ll delve into his addictions, of course, plus clear up rumors about his feelings for the Friends costars,” the source continues. “Plus, he’ll discuss what went wrong in a number of his past relationships. It wasn’t always a bed of roses for Matthew on and off the Friends set, and Matt isn’t going to sugarcoat the tougher times that he went through with the cast. He’ll also discuss what it was like at the reunion, both good and bad.”
