Fans of Game of Thrones would remember that the actor who played The Mountain is a rather large man, to say the least. To be frank, just the name would be enough to give one an idea. The actor who played this iconic character on the show is Icelander Hafþór ‘Thor’ Björnsson, who stands at 6ft 9 inches tall, and weighs around 320 pounds. And just like other huge celebrities like the late André The Giant or Shaquille O’Neal, anything common looks freakishly tiny before him. Therefore, we can’t blame the people on social media for losing their minds on a picture of him holding onto a mug.
The actor uploaded a picture of himself enjoying a cup of coffee on Instagram in 2019. And while the picture in itself was quite fine, what seemed ludicrous was the mug in his hands. Don’t get us wrong- the mug was perfectly shaped- but in his hands, it looked abnormally tiny. In fact, one could stake a claim that the entire picture was photoshopped. Needless to say, it didn’t look like Hafþór ‘Thor’ Björnsson got more than a couple of sips from that mug. The picture went viral on several social media platforms, with Reddit foremost among them. One user commented, “He needs a Sports Direct mug for those hands.” Another user went on to state, “To him, that’s a shot glass with a handle.”
The Mountain Makes Everyday Items Look Miniature
One can assume that a part of his huge size can be attributed to his Viking genes. But another part that needs to be credited is his diet. The Mountain eats a mountain! In an interview with BroBible, he was simultaneously chowing down “on a bowl that appeared to contain a week’s worth of meal prep” while fielding the questions. When the reporter asked him about his diet, the former World’s Strongest Man stated, “Rice, steak- this was rib-eye I minced down- peppers, carrots, and there are supplements in here as well. The liquid is chicken stock. It is the best meal for growth and strength. I’ll eat this five times a day.”

Now, if The Mountain states that this is the best meal for growth, you might as well believe it. Hafþór ‘Thor’ Björnsson also spoke about how he was proud of his gargantuan height. “I like being tall. The only thing that has annoyed me being this tall and heavy is that you can’t really fit anywhere. You have to custom-make the bed and you can’t travel with your bed. It’s very annoying. Trying to fit into a cab or Uber is challenging as well. I have to fly business class because I just don’t fit into economy. Otherwise, I’m proud to be tall.”
Just goes to show how massive he really is. The picture of Hafþór ‘Thor’ Björnsson holding his coffee mug went viral on Instagram as well. Although the cup looked normal on his partner’s hands, it looked like a miniature piece on his. One user stated, “That mug looks like a thimble in your massive paw.” Another user commented, “Thought that was a miniature mug until I saw the mug your other half is holding lol.” Being this huge and popular, the actor is no stranger to people reacting to his size online. Several pictures of him and his wife- who is 19 inches shorter than him- went viral. And just like Shaquille O’Neal and his ex-girlfriend Nikki ‘Hoopz’ Alexander.
