Nobody To Dance With
Maeve has spent a lot of her time practicing tap dancing and had a recital coming up. Her mother, Jamie, mentioned how much grandpa loved to tap dance. Something that they both have a deep love for which would also mean a lot to grandpa. Tap dancing requires a level of strategic foot placement and rhythm. The metal underneath the shoes have to align perfectly otherwise it will be out of sync. Being decent or even good at tap dancing is no laughing matter. Maeve decided that this was the perfect opportunity for them both to shine together. After a handful of rehearsals with each other and they were ready to give the performance of the year. (1)
Bill Jones, being a 72 year-old retired teacher, was not hesitant in saying yes to his granddaughter. Knowing just how scary it can be for a kid to go and dance in front of a bunch of people. Let alone his very own granddaughter giving her performance for the family and friends. However, he was ready to dance his heart out for his granddaughter. Spending hours at a time practicing with her, making sure that every little detail was perfect. They wanted to give a performance that was going to make everyone’s head spin. (1)

Day Of The Dance Recital
When the time came for them to finally perform, Maeve was a little bit nervous. The spotlight can make anybody feel butterflies in their stomach. This was especially difficult for Maeve but luckily she had her grandpa with her. He reassured her that this was about them and no one else, holding her hand inside of his. After a few moments of uncertainty, they made their way to the dance floor. Dressed in a cute blue and white striped dress, she took point on the stage with her grandpa.
The song ‘When I’m Gone’ covered by Anna Kendrick from the movie Pitch Perfect started playing. Both Maeve and her grandfather began tapping professionally to the song without any flaws. A big beaming smile on both of their faces as soon as the music started. Despite being 72 years-old and retired, Bill stunned everybody with his performance with his granddaughter. Seeming utterly light on his feet as the song continued, he matched Maeve’s dancing perfectly. The audience was completely silent as they watched them strategically perform their dance.
Grandpa’s Got The Moves!
As the recital came to an end, Maeve cart-wheeled as she stuck the landing with a large smile on her face. The crowd cheering excitedly for her as she moved back to the dance line with her grandpa. Then suddenly the crowd cheered even more once grandpa did his own cart-wheel. Sticking the landing and taking point next to Maeve again. Both of them smiling as widely as possibly at each other once the song and dance ended.
All the while, Maeve’s mother was in the crowd trying to hold back her heart-felt tears. Watching her father-in-law perform such a loving display for her daughter was such a powerful moment. When the show was over and Maeve’s family watched the video over and over, Jamie wanted to share it with the whole world. After the video was published, the internet exploded with joy. Much to her surprise the video went viral and people were commenting how much love as well as joy it brought them. (
The overall message that Maeve and her grandpa brought to the world is the power of love. The amazing and loving bond that a grandparent can have with their grandchild. Especially through a shared passion such as tap-dancing. Most of the entire world resonates with the feeling you get from doing awesome things like this with your family. Anything like dancing with your family can make memories like this one last for many life times.
