A parish council in a small English village accidentally had cannabis plants featured in one of its floral displays. A local gardener spot the plants and informed the council. The council then took steps to remove and secure them. The West Parley Parish Council in Dorset was left red-faced when a village planter included some questionable plants in the bright display. These suspicious-looking plants were spotted by Tray Veronica, who then posted on social media about the interesting plants that the council had enforced.
“It was last Sunday I spotted the plants.” Tray said to Yahoo News UK. “I was taking my child to a friend’s house. I just found it hilarious. The council was looking after these planters every day. All the other plants are still in the planter. It’s just the cannabis that’s been removed. The plants do look so beautiful. The Council did a great job with them. And I’m sure this was just someone’s idea of a joke.”

Cannabis Incident Leaves City Council Embarrassed
Tray first came upon the plants on the 17th of July. But a couple of days later, the West Parley Parish Council uploaded a picture of the plants- to which someone commented, “Smokin’.” This led to a council meeting on Wednesday, after which an update was released:
“On 20th July, the parish council was alerted to a report concerning one of the village’s floral displays, which suggested it may have been tampered with, and amongst the flowers was a plant not part of this year’s schedule. On the advice of the police, the plant was located, removed, and has been secured by the parish council and arrangements are being made to pass it on to Dorset Police for identification and destruction. An inspection has taken place of all the parish’s other planters, and this has not raised any further concerns.”
Here is the original post from the Parish Council on their Facebook page, however it would appear the image of the apparent cannabis plant has been removed.
Tray, on her part, went on to add her two cents about the cannabis incident. “I hope the council can see the funny side. It is worth adding that all the planters around the village do look beautiful, they’ve done a great job.”
As it turns out, this isn’t the first time that a council has been embarrassed due to wrong plants. Back in 2015, the local council bosses in Astana, Kazakhstan, had to bring out an investigation. The investigation was geared towards discovering how thousands of cannabis plants had been installed into a city flowerbed rather than normal plants.
