‘Adult Ice Cream Truck’ Delivers Frozen Cocktails Right to Your Door in Houston

These entrepreneurs need a national award for this genius adult ice cream truck idea.

Am I the only one who doesn’t enjoy a homemade margarita? I’ll always mess it up and it just never tastes quite the same. Since we can’t turn up at our favorite bars to get some boozy cool this summer, how awesome would it be to have these life-saving drink spots come to us? 

While over a third of the world is under some sort of lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus, we can all admit life isn’t quite the same right now. Millions of people are out of jobs and many others are sick or worried about their loved ones. We are all missing out on a lot of the guilty pleasures that were easily within our reach when ‘outside’ was still a thing, and it hurts to know that summer is probably not going to be all fun, sips, dips, and sun. Well, at least one Houston restaurant understands the importance of daily patio-time cocktails in some people’s lives.

In a time where thousands of bars and restaurants are shut down worldwide, home deliveries have become the next driving force for food businesses that can still stay open. Bovine & Barley, a popular Houston-based bar is one of the many struggling businesses, and although they still offer takeout services, things aren’t quite the same anymore.

Free deliveries and decadent pleasures

And now, since people can’t come to the bar anymore, B&B decided to bring the bar to their customers – while still maintaining social distancing, of course. They came up with something called “The Adult Ice Cream Truck,” a mobile truck that delivers frozen and fizzy cocktails to adults in their homes. [1]

Every day, from 11 am to 8 pm, the truck makes several runs delivering some of the most popular customer favorites in these areas: Midtown, Downton, Montrose Washington Area, and the Heights. You can get mojitos, margaritas, moscow mules, daiquiris, and pina coladas, $9 for singles, $16 for doubles, and $55 for party packages. 

They are coming through with so many of the best flavors and spirit variants including pineapple, citrus, lime, coconut, vodka, ginger beer, tequila, and others. 

What wouldn’t I give to move to the U.S. (hello, Houston) right about now?

 According to the restaurant, they’ve been receiving countless phone calls from people all over the country asking if a similar service could be set up in their locations. People in excluded areas of Houston are especially upset about the small delivery range. 

What’s a cocktail without a light snack? 

You can also order some bites along with your drinks; chips and salsa are selling at $6, and house-made potato chips at $1. 

As expected, the locals are besotted with their so-called “ice cream truck” and they can’t seem to get enough of it.
