Growing to old age is a feat that not all of us make in our lives. Many of us would feel lucky to hit 90, but turning 100 years old is seen as a miracle. One man’s father is about to turn 104, which is a whopper of a lifetime. He made a tweet in honor of his dad where he asked the world to send 104 birthday wishes – one for each year of his life. The number of wishes that came through for his dad, and his ripe old age, were the last thing Kevin expected.
He made a tweet for his dad
Kevin Mills’ father is about to turn 104. Before the big day, Kevin made a tweet asking for 104 birthday wishes for his father.
“This is my dad, Gerald. He turns 104 on 12 July,” the tweet read. “Any chance I can muster 104 happy birthdays from Twitter? He’ll be amazed and baffled in equal measure.”
The tweet has since gone viral. This is no surprise because turning 104 years old is not something you hear every day. Celebrities like Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars commented on the tweet with a birthday cake emoji, and said: “For Gerald.“
British comedian and actor also sent in his birthday wish for Gerald. He said: “Happy birthday, Gerald.”
“Gerald! You look fantastic!”
Ilene Pretorius, or @Ilenetjie, replies to the tweet with a hint that Gerald has aged better than her own father. Gerald is turning 104, whereas her father is in his 70s, yet they look the same age.
“Have a great birthday on the 12th , Gerald! You look fantastic! This is my dad, Robert, who turned 75 on the 23rd of June. He looks about the same age as you, though. I pray he can maintain those looks for the next 30 years.”

More birthday tweets
Gerald did not only receive birthday love from the famous. But, he also got wishes from others whose parents share Gerald’s birthday. Texas Blue Bonnet said: “Cheers Gerald! My birthday is also July 12th, a toast to us! My new granddaughter thinks the secret to a long life is being extra cute but I think you already know that by looking at your pic!” The reply included a cute pic of the grandchild.
Kate, or @companionkate, commented: “Happy Birthday, Gerald. My dad shares your birthday, July 12th. He would have been 70 this year but just passed away on May 14th. I (love) and miss him so.” In conclusion, she added a picture of her beloved father.
Another reply was made by someone who truly went the extra mile. He went so far as to find the actual newspaper that was printed on the day Gerald was born. He replied to the tweet with a picture of the paper, and said: “Happy Birthday Gerald! Here’s the Leominster News from your birthday. Next were having a sale, so no change there. Have an amazing day!“
“Sir Gerald“
Tracee Loran commented: “I am loving this thread. Sir Gerald started something special! Celebrating our elders and their milestones! My Grandma just turned 95 on June 30.” She completed her response with a selfie of her and her 95-year-old grandmother.
