Starbucks Barista Says She Gets $200 Extra On Paychecks Ever Since Tips Were Added For Credit Card Users

A new tipping method has really led to the excitement of a Starbucks barista- which has also captured the eye of close to 300,000 people on TikTok. This video on the social media platform had been posted by a user, which shows the creator dancing at one of the many Starbucks across the country- simply because the new mechanism for tipping has already led to quite a significant impact on their take-home pay.

The caption reads, “POV: When your company finally adds credit card tips and it literally adds $200 to your paycheck.” But as it turns out, not every single individual who frequents the location is happy about this. One customer also went on to state that she absolutely dreaded the day this tipping system would be in place. One of the employees of the coffee store chain criticized the system- stating that they would be turning off the electronic tip option if they could.

Starbucks Barista Excited About New Tipping System

Although the official representatives of the company haven’t yet responded to any of the requests for comment regarding the TikTok made by this Starbucks barista, a statement from Newsweek does hint at some improvement. “Starbucks is rolling out the ability for customers to tip for credit card transactions at the register in the cafe and drive-thru. This capability began at select stores in the US in September 2022, and will continue to roll out to all stores where this can apply through the end of the year. It’s our goal to allow our customers to recognize baristas no matter what payment method they use, and we’re excited to bring this new enhancement to stores.

A Redditor also went on to state that this new system of tipping has raised the morale of the Starbucks baristas. “We are a test store. Last weeks tips combined cash and digital we hit .96 per hour. So far this week on just credit car alone we’re averaging $3 per hour. So. Edit: I want to point out that morale in my store is the highest I’ve ever seen it. Honestly. People are smiling more. Service is better etc.
