Malaysian influencer says she wouldn’t date poor people but used her looks to get a free kebab

As much as we tend to demean it, we cannot escape hypocrisy. A TikTok user with quite a bit of popularity received numerous mentions after posting a video showing the ease at which she could get stuff for free, only because she had a physically attractive face. The user, @_erynamira, used the video to show her and her friend receiving a kebab for free after she used some pickup lines with a server. The incident took place in an Arab restaurant in Malaysia’s Bukit Bintang.

The caption confirmed her intentions as it read: “Isn’t it fun being pretty? All you need to do is drop a few pickup lines.” Among these “effective” pickup lines, one of them was her describing her attire as “girlfriend material”. Some more such lines later, the server returned and gifted the ladies two kebabs.

Social Media Was Up In Arms Over The Free Kebab

Regardless of the poster’s original intentions, the viewers were enraged at the video. The user had also claimed within the past week that she would refuse to date people who did not have a high enough income. Needless to say, this only added fuel to the fire.

Netizens wasted no time in calling her out over the free kebab. The majority called her action “distasteful” since her lifestyle on social media appears to be quite flashy. A Twitter comment read: “You act like you’re rich but to eat shawarma also you need to flirt first.” Other comments talked about how this was not a “pretty privilege” at all:

However, it seems the restaurant had actually sponsored the video in a bid to help their business. Another Twitter user claimed to know the waiter as he is one of their friends. The user posted screenshots of the conversation they had following the incident. The waiter explained that it was nothing more than an act:

Nevertheless, even if it is staged, perhaps there were better ways to showcase a restaurant’s kebab without having to use the influencer’s beauty. At the same time, users on social media are notorious for bashing people at the first chance they get, without caring for any sort of explanation. Let us know what you think of the situation in the comments!
