Who would have thought you could get paid to sleep? Well, apparently, you can!

Company seeks “Sleeping Beauty” to test mattress for $3000

A company called Sleep Junkie knows how important sleep is and is making significant efforts to better people’s sleeping habits everywhere. They were quite worried when they looked at their sleep data and found that we are not getting enough sleep, and the lack of sleep has spiked within the last 12 months. Alongside Google analysis tends, they found that searches for how to get enough sleep and mattress advice had reached an all-time high at the end of 2020.

Sleep Junkie is on the lookout for a real-life ‘sleeping beauty’ to test their mattresses, someone to get paid to sleep. Someone who will provide honest feedback on some of the best mattresses on the market.

The company is looking for someone to get paid to sleep and who is available to work immediately. And has good evaluation skills, if this sounds like something you would be good at, visit their website.

How to you can get paid to sleep

Once you are selected as a tester, sleep junkie will send you three mattresses over the course of two-months that you will need to test out thoroughly. You are expected to sleep alone as your sleep must be undisturbed, and then write up a review of all three, including the quality, mood, and comfort of each mattress. You are then able to keep your favorite as well as getting paid to sleep.

Sleep Junkie says their ideal candidate is an independent person who is self-motivated and has excellent writing and evaluation skills, and most of all must be exceptionally good at sleeping; they must also have enough space for delivery and collection of the mattress. All deliveries and collections are under strict covid guidelines.[2]

Tips and Tricks for a better nights sleep

While you might not be able to get paid to sleep, it’s worth sleeping well anyway!

Create a new routine

Covid has messed with our “normal” way of doing this, and lockdown gave us a new timeline. Life is different, being home all the time! So, now that we have the “new normal,” we need to reorganize our lives and sleep. So, Before bed, do the things you need to do, then lower the lights and read a book. Or, do whatever it is that helps you relax. Try this for three days in a row, and if it works for you, keep it up.

Make it a ritual

When making your way to bed, it is best to shut down your brain slowly. You can do this by maintaining a ritual and doing it every night. Similar to Pavlov’s experiments with the dogs, once you start your ritual, your brain will recognize it and start to release the sleep hormones in preparation for bed. The more you do it, the easier it becomes.

No screens

Studies have shown that the bright blue light from our phones, computers, and TVs can prevent melatonin from being released. This is the hormone that makes us sleepy. Consequently, thanks to lockdown, it has become easier for us just to get sucked into a Netflix or YouTube binge. And, not to mention working from home on our computers! Therefore, it is good to turn it off a few hours before bed and before you do your sleep ritual.

The Brew

There are many sleepy teas on the market these days, and it would be a good idea to sample them and find which one works best for you. Obviously, you want one without caffeine, as that will just keep you up for hours. Luckily, there are many to choose from, and a lot of them taste excellent.
