We’re focusing on kindness this week, and we think we’ve come across the perfect story to share with you. While scouring the internet, we came upon a beautiful story from a couple of years ago about a homeless man and a gang of dogs who waited patiently for him at a hospital. Originally, the story was posted by his nurse who attended to him at the hospital. Shortly after, the tale of love and generosity went viral. After reading this story, you’ll see why.
It was at Hospital Regional Alto Vale in Brazil where this touching story takes place. Back in 2018, healthcare worker Cris Mamprim and her coworkers witnessed the most incredible thing they’ve ever seen at their job. It was around 3am on a Sunday when a homeless man came in needing medication and treatment. His name was Cesar, and he had another facility he normally attended, however tonight he was at Alto Vale. While Mamprim was consulting Cesar and asking questions about his condition, she noticed he wasn’t alone.
The Most Loving Gang of Dogs
Looking across reception to the front door of the hospital, Mamprim saw something both unique and heartwarming. While it was apparent that Cesar was indeed homeless, he certainly was rich with love and friendship from those who were waiting for him. A gang of dogs sat in front of the door, ears perked upwards, waiting for their best friend to return.
While caring for Cesar, Mamprim commented about his faithful companions. It turns out Cesar has a heart of gold and has been feeding and taking care of these furry friends for a while. What really threw Mamprim and her colleagues for a loop was hearing that Cesar often ignores his own hunger just so he can feed his lovable gang of dogs.
“They are all well taken care of and chubby. Seeing them like that, waiting at the door, only shows how much they are cared for and loved. He has the best companions with him. I do not know what his life is like, or why he’s on the street, but I admire the respect and love he has for his little animals. If only everyone were like this.“

Cesar started to improve while at the hospital, and eventually the staff decided to allow the dogs inside to be by his side. He received a warm meal, and enjoyed the company of his friends. Cris is certain he ate some and hid some away to share with his canine friends at a later time.
This is Real Love
It wasn’t too much longer until Cesar was released and once again ventured into the streets. However, he wasn’t alone, and the hospital staff knew both Cesar and the adorable gang of dogs were looking out for each other.
This has to be one of the most touching displays of kindness and selflessness we have ever heard of, don’t you agree? Hopefully Cesar and his little buddies are still doing well today, sharing lots of love and warm cuddles…and treats as well.
