Firefighters come to a halt when they see mom filling her kids’ pool using a pot

A Tiffy Taffy Highlight Story: Sometimes there are stories that are just too good, too beautiful, or too unbelievable to keep locked away. That’s why we scour the archives and bring some of them back to enjoy again. They may make you smile or shed a tear, but they’re always meant to add a little positivity to your day. This story is from June 2018. Enjoy!

In 2018 firefighters came to a standstill when witnessing a mom trying to fill her kid’s swimming pool on a scorching summer’s day. When it comes to our children’s birthdays, we move heaven and earth to make sure everything is perfect and that it all goes according to plan.

In Charlotte, North Carolina, a mom had got her son a kiddie pool to enjoy. Her son and his friends were getting ready to play as it was a really hot day outside! The kids were obviously very excited!

The next step was filling the pool

The pool was a fantastic idea, but there was only one problem, she had no hose to fill it. So she did what she had to do and started manually filling the pool using pots of water— now that’s what you call a supermom. She would fill up a pot, then bring it outside and throw the water into the pool. This was a burdensome process, to say the least. The kids stood patiently watching and waiting, unsure if they were going to swim that day or not.

Firefighters to the rescue

Fortunately for the mother, a fire truck drove past her while she was filling the pool and saw the patient children waiting for her to be done so that they could take a dip. Moved by the determination of this mother, the firefighters stopped and decided to lend a hand.

They took the hose from their truck and used that to fill the pool. The kids were so happy they jumped with excitement and joy. The children’s mother couldn’t believe her eyes, a wave of relief and gratefulness washed over her as she wasn’t going to have to fill any more pots or worry about whether or not her son’s birthday was going to be what she had planned hoped it would be.

Officials and the community were extremely proud of their local firefighters. A Facebook post from Charlotte Fire Station 18 said:

“Firehouse 18 is a neighborhood firehouse full of men and women who truly care about the families they swore to protect. Today, after leaving a medical call, Engine 18 stumbled across a family desperately trying to fill up a kiddy pool by filling pots from the sink for a little boy’s birthday on this sweltering day.”

They continued to say, “What was just a simple task for us turned into laughter, smiles, and a lifelong memory for the neighborhood kids as well as the men on Engine 18? Proud to serve the WESTSIDE”

Problem-solving hero’s

The fact is, these firefighters didn’t have to stop and take time out of their day to help Charlotte fill a kiddie pool, but they did and they did so out of the kindness of their hearts. They saw a problem, had the means to help, and did just that. Not only showing Charlotte and her community but the whole of America what amazing people they are.

Their story went viral and many people responded to the post. One Facebook user wrote: “This is awesome, it brought tears to my eyes. Those kids will remember what you did. Thank you from PA. Stay safe.” Another commenter added: “Men and women like you are the reason I still believe there is good in the world.”

Let’s do more good

It’s truly amazing to see what one small act of kindness can do. It helped change a boy’s birthday around and saved his mom from making all those trips back and forth.

Hopefully, we can all take something from this story and be inspired to do more good in the world. Whether it be feeding someone who is hungry, giving clothes to a person in need, or filling a kiddie pool with water. If you have a means of helping, do so. Every act of kindness adds a little more joy and love to the world.
