One thing is for sure, we cannot choose whom we fall in love with. This makes life complicated at times, especially when the one you fall for is already promised to someone else. One man was the best man at his friend’s wedding, during which he gave a speech. Unlike most speeches about the couple’s love and the odd embarrassing story. The best man confessed his love for the bride, whom he had known since high school. It might not be the most conventional way to express your love, but they did end up getting married later on.
Best man married the bride
There have been many movies that tell the story of the best man who loves the bride, some of them are funny, while others are not. They go on this grand adventure to crash the wedding, and they all live happily ever after. But, in this case, it is not just a story, it is the reality for one couple. Desiree White and Bryant met in high school, but never attempted a romantic relationship until after Desiree was married. The interesting thing is, that she ended up marrying the best man from her first wedding.
Kennedy News interviewed white, who spoke of her relationship with Bryant. “Bryant and I met each other in class at high school,” she said. “I had a boyfriend at the time and, because of that, I really wasn’t going to talk to other people.”
The realization of the best man
She introduced Bryant to her boyfriend, who was to be her first husband. They became great friends very fast. “Bryant and my ex-husband became best friends and, because they were guys, they did a lot together. They did everything together,” White said. She went on the say that Bryant was a different person back then, and he needed t do some maturing. So, she did not see him in a romantic sense. even after going on several double dates with him.
Bryant was best friends with the woman of his dream’s fiance. White had no inclination toward his feelings, nor harbored any of her own while she was dating her ex-husband. The first time Bryant showed signs of longing was when he first spotted her in her wedding dress. “On the wedding day, I walked into the living room, right when I was done getting ready with my wedding dress on and my hair done. Bryant came into my parents’ house and froze and stared at me,” she recalled. “I said, ‘Hey, what’s up?’ He said I looked beautiful. I’d never had a moment of him looking at me like that.”

A love confession
That was strange for Desiree, but things were about to get even stranger. During his best man speech, Bryant decided to confess his love for Desiree. Instead of expressing his love for the just-married couple. In a TikTok video, Desiree recounted the speech of the man who became her second husband.
“‘I remember the first moment I saw Desiree, I loved her,’” she recounted his speech. “‘I fell in love with her. And, I knew she had to be mine. I thought she was the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen in my life. She’s the best person I’ve ever met. I’ve never met anyone like her. Then I found out she already had a boyfriend and I thought I needed to find out a way to get her, but then I met [White’s ex-husband] and we became friends,’” he continued, before abruptly ending the speech by saying “‘Love you both — congratulations.’”
Later on, the best man and the bridesmaid danced with the bride and groom. While her new husband twirled her friend around the dance floor, Desiree swayed with a rather drunk Bryant. This was when she asked about what he meant in his speech. “Nothing. I love you, I love [White’s ex-husband],“She recalled what Bryant said. She added that he went quiet after that.
They lived happily ever after
Desiree and her first husband ended up getting divorced a few years later. White described how he slipped into a phase of depression, and how Bryant was there for her as a friend. One day, he was offering her comfort, and they ended up kissing. “It was out of nowhere. When he kissed me, I didn’t stop it, then I kissed him back. I was shocked that it was a good kiss. It felt good and natural,” said Desiree.
They finally gave romance a chance between them, which made Desiree very happy. Fast forward one year, they were pregnant with their first child. Over the years they had another three children, and their happy family life continues. “We love being parents. Twenty-year-old Desiree wouldn’t think she could be a mom of four kids,” said Desiree. “She couldn’t imagine this is what my life would be like now.”
