Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds first met in 2010 while filming the movie Green Lantern. At the time, Lively was dating her Gossip Girl co-star, Penn Badgley, while Reynolds was married to Scarlett Johansson. Despite being in relationships with other people, the two reportedly hit it off on set and became good friends.

Blake and Badgley decided to go separate ways in 2010, and Ryan and Scarlett coincidentally got divorced in 2011, which was not much later. Although, the more spiritually inclined folk might argue there are no coincidences. The two reconnected soon after and started dating. The beginning of their relationship set the bar for privacy, as neither of them shared much about their feelings for each other with the media. However, they were spotted out and about together on various occasions.
In 2012, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds decided they couldn’t imagine life with anyone else and got engaged. In true Blake and Ryan style, they had a secret ceremony in South Carolina with only a few friends and family invited. They astoundingly managed to keep their wedding under wraps, only sharing a few photos from the event with their fans. “Ryan and Blake wanted the event to look and feel like home,” said Tara Guerard (their wedding planner). “We created the charm, elegance, and magic of times past. It was a truly beautiful celebration.”

Since getting married, Lively and Reynolds have welcomed three children together, James, Inez, and Betty. Their first child, a daughter named James, was born in 2014. They welcomed their second child, another daughter named Inez, in 2016. Their third child, a third daughter called Betty was born in 2019. Then, seeing as Blake is now pregnant they are about to welcome their fourth baby into the family.
Despite being one of Hollywood’s most high-profile couples, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have managed to keep their relationship and family life out of the limelight. They prefer things that way. Choosing not to speak about each other in interviews, and they rarely share pictures of their children on social media.
On one rare occasion in 2020, Ryan Reynolds spoke about raising three daughters with Blake. “We don’t split up,” he said. “I shoot movies and my wife shoots movies and we go travel all over the place and we just all go together. I think that’s been the best part of it is that we really don’t spend a lot of time apart because I get to spend a lot of time with my girls.”

In 2019, Lively and Reynolds celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary, and they show no signs of slowing down. The couple seems to have a strong bond and a deep love for each other, and they continue to be one of Hollywood’s most enduring and beloved couples. Ryan shared a secret to his ten-year marriage. “We don’t take each other too seriously, but we’re also friends,” he said. “Falling in love is great, but do you like each other? That’s kinda the question you gotta ask yourself, you know, going into it. We’ve always liked each other. We grow together. We learn from each other. So yeah, I’m lucky to have a buddy in that.”
