Internet history hasn’t been around that long. One can go back two to three decades and chart the course of the internet itself. Nevertheless, this does form a part of the culture, and as time passes the events of the internet will continue to go down in history. The following are sixteen moments in internet history that went so viral that they are still relevant to this day. Do you remember these?

1. Zombie Kid Adores Turtles

Internet history was created when Jonathan decided to paint himself to look like a zombie and gave a beautiful statement regarding turtles. He was upfront, honest, and cut through the bulls*** to inform everyone that he loved turtles. 

2. The OG Rap God

Internet history will forever remain unsatisfactory if we don’t have the OG rap battle in history. Supa Hot Fire delivered the freshest, most lyrical bar in the history of Hip-Hop. Eminem could never spit, “Sike, that’s the wrong number!”

3. Father Christmas Isn’t Very Father-y

This child absolutely believes that he is on the good list, and there is no way on Earth that Father Christmas can put him on the bad list. In fact, he is willing to have a duel to death for that.

4. Mr. Steal-Your-Girlfriend

Lucky Luciano must have never thought that his fashion style would become such a popular meme on the Internet. Let’s be honest though- that drip is immaculate. 

5. The Yodeling King

Mason Ramsey struck gold when he decided to yodel at a Walmart. Before he could blink, he had become impossibly viral over all social media platforms- and had been signed to Big Loud Records. Maybe that was just the ‘produce’ section!

6. Wikipedia’s Crowdsourcing Begins In 2001

Wikipedia is probably the greatest invention since sliced bread. But allowing it to be edited by simple strangers might not have been the best thing to do. After all, not everyone has the knowledge or the intention of doing something correctly. 

7. The First iPhone Released In 2007

The Apple mania is everywhere. When it was launched in 2007, people didn’t really have a clue about other smartphones- nor were they any good. The first iPhone really changed the way people engage with the Internet- and became a huge success that has been recreated for the last 16 years. 

8. The Pokemon Go Mania Of 2016

When Pokemon Go hit the App Store and the Google Play Store in 2016, fans of the anime really lost their minds. The possibility of being a Pokemon trainer was so infectious that you probably saw several thousand individuals roaming the streets looking for imaginary Pokemon. 

9. Instagram, and The Rise Of Influencers In 2010

When Instagram was launched, people used it to simply share pictures of cats and food. But now, the app has almost a billion and counting downloads on the App Store, and people love it for how simple it actually is. 

10. YouTube Comes To Life in 2005

The rise of YouTube can be credited to the infamous Super Bowl malfunction that took place between Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson in 2005. The goal was to create an app allowing people to upload such moments and make them immemorial.

11. Richard Dawkins- The OG Meme God

While we all use the word ‘meme’ daily, the original word was coined by Richard Dawkins all the way back in 1976. If you are not aware of this sociologist, he has also written the uber-famous book ‘The God Delusion’.

13. The Kanye West- Taylor Swift Beef

Before the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills inscribed the word ‘beef’ in our daily usage, we had Kanye West and Taylor Swift going against each other at the Grammys. Let this be known- this was one of the tamer things that Kanye has done over the years.
