Yazemeenah Rossi: 67-Year-Old Model Shares Her Secrets to Graceful Aging

Age is just a number.” You have definitely heard that before, but one thing we have noticed about that saying is that it often refers to extreme examples like 95-year-old Betty White or 80-year-old Deshun Wang. But swimsuit model Yazemeenah Rossi is special because she is relatable and likely closer to you in age. The 67-year-old is a tangible example of healthy, wholesome living and one which you might find some value in.

One thing you’ll notice immediately about Yazemeenah is her stunning long silver hair. Her hair began to change color when she turned ten and just a decade later, it was salt and pepper. Yazemeenah has had to fight agents in order to keep her natural hair color, which complements the very beauty that everyone finds so beautiful and inspiring. And anyway, she “always thought it was a gift…[She’s] someone who likes to be simple.”[1]

Born in France and raised on the Mediterranean island of Corsica, it is no wonder that Yazameenah has such a free-spirited and relaxed nature. Making a conscious effort to live with minimal stress has helped give her that youthful complexion, even as a grandmother of two.[2]

In comparison to most models, Yazemeenah’s career began quite late at the age of twenty-eight. While she truly started to make her mark after forty, her most recent years have been the most impactful. From her gorgeous gray hair to near wrinkle-free skin, the 67-year-old has become a source of inspiration and glimpse of hope for both young girls and older women alike.

Yazemeenah Rossi’s “Fountains of Youth

Fortunately or unfortunately, there’s no fairy tale fountain. However, she does offer some very practical pearls of advice for living a healthy and hearty life at any age.

Do What You Love

I will model until the end of my life,” Yazemeenah promises. “But it’s not about modeling, it’s about witnessing, witnessing beauty, energy makes us alive.”

In whatever you do, “it’s [about] enjoying every day, more and more. It’s like my heart is going to explode every morning.”

What an incredible resolve – to approach everything with such energy, love, and passion. Of course, it’s not always easy and life doesn’t always go as planned. But approaching your life with a positive mindset will likely improve yours and others’ more than you would expect!

Eat Healthy

One of the foods that Yazemeenah eats every day is avocado, emphasizing the importance of incorporating a healthy, nutrient-rich diet into your life. She avoids eating frustrating diets, maintaining that balance and discipline are key along with never eating processed, frozen, microwaved foods. Almost daily, Yazemeenah will cook and eat fresh organic foods such as “vegetables, fruits, nuts and some good quality fish and meats.”

Take Care of Your Skin

You are well aware of the common marketing tactics that often sexualize women to sell products, but Yazemeenah knows better (and so should we).

The media makes us believe that we need this or that to have great skin so that products can be sold. They will never say, in fact, the skin has an ability to produce its own protection.”

There are no beauty products I couldn’t live without as I can always find what I need anywhere.

One “product” that she grew up using on her hair and skin is probably in your kitchen – olive and non-GMO rapeseed oil! Yazemeenah rubs olive oil on her face and body, and the rapeseed oil through her hair. She also makes DIY body scrubs to naturally exfoliate her skin.

The best thing for the skin is to eat enough healthy fats on a daily basis and to oxygenate well while exercising,” she says. “Walking and sweating are [also] great for your skin because it’s our biggest breathing organ.”

Holdfast, Hearty Soul-diers!

If you’re starting to feel the pressure from some of the changes you either want or need to make, that’s all right.

“It won’t happen in a day,” assures Yazemeenah. “It requires discipline and dedication. You need a healthy spirit and a curious mind.”[3]

Habits are hard to break and challenging to form, so start small! Whether you desire healthier external changes or internal ones, know that “it’s not all about being 20 and 5’10”. We’re bored of that. We are all different ages and sizes and that’s the beauty of it. We’re real women.”[1]

Although Yazemeenah Rossi may not look it, she admits that “it’s not fun to see your skin going down and becoming less toned but the nice, fascinating side of aging gives you a strong feeling of inner power totally unknown before.”[2] So rejoice in that and know that you can start living the life you want to live today.
