It is the dream of every three-year-old to turn four. As their birthday’s approach, they start dreaming up the best ideas for a party and imagine receiving the most grandiose presents. Mostly, they are just s happy to spend the day with their parents, siblings, and friends. Unfortunately for Alfonso Ribeiro, his now four-year-old daughter spent her last day as a three-year-old in hospital. She had a terrible fall from her scooter that resulted in some intense and painful injuries. Both parents have taken to Instagram to express their relief and gratitude for being able to wish their daughter a happy birthday after all.
Alfonso Ribeiro’s Daughter Turned Four
Many people fondly remember Alfonso Ribeiro from ‘The Fresh Prince of Belair.” Being a father to girls can be tough, but Alfonso is not new to fatherhood. Moreover, he has made quite a name for himself as being a great dad. Unfortunately, he and his current wife’s youngest daughter, Ava, recently suffered a terrible scooter accident that saw her emitted to the emergency room. The worst part of it all was the accident was the day before she turned four years old. No one wants to spend the day before their birthday in a hospital bed awaiting surgery.
Both parents were deeply concerned for their baby girl and took to Instagram to express their gratitude after her surgery. Alfonso posted a picture of Ava’s injuries from the accident. He captioned the post: “Not the kind of day you want the day before turning 4. Just want to give a heartfelt thank you to @kareskinmd for the emergency service and procedure to help lessen the likelihood of scaring. So proud of how brave my baby girl was during the surgery.”

From His Instagram account, you can see that Alfonso Ribeiro and his wife decided to celebrate her fourth birthday once she had healed up a bit. He posted a picture of Ava holding a balloon in the shape of the number four, wishing her well on her special day. “Happy Birthday to my sweet Ava Sue. As some of you know Ava had a very difficult week,” he wrote. “I’m so proud of how well she handled everything. She’s so brave strong and creative. I love everything about my little girl. On a side note, I’m forever grateful to @mrsangelaribeiro1 for being so amazing during this time. Long nights with a little girl in pain and having to apply medication every few hours. My two heroes.”

Ava’s mom, Angela, Alfonso Ribeiro’s wife, also made a gratitude post non Instagram about her daughter’s accident. Apparently, she woke up that morning with a premonition of her daughter in the emergency room. “My poor baby. I woke up and had a vision/motherly intuition of Ava ending up in the ER today,” she wrote in the caption.
Angela described how she forced everyone in the room to make eye contact when promising not to do anything dangerous with Ava that day. She wrote: “I announced to the fam, kids, sitter & friends helping out getting ready for Ava’s birthday party that ‘we are not doing anything crazy or dangerous today that could potentially end up with an ER visit.’ I literally made everyone lock eyes to me when I said these words.”
“Sadly,” her post concluded. “My words were soon forgotten and long story short, this poor girl crashed off a sit-down scooter…the day before her bday. A big thank you to Dr. Raffy at @kareskinmd for seeing us after hours and performing a procedure to hopefully eventually have a little scarring on her face and arms. Not a fun way to spend your last day as a 3-year-old, but she was a trooper. Giving this sweet girl some extra cuddles tonight.”
