Wet clothes are a pain to dry if the day is not sunny, or we donât have a lot of time on our hands. Tumble dryers are the perfect machine for them, but many of us don’t have those either. Now, a woman on TikTok has come up with a brilliant answer to this problem. Her solution is so effective that we can dry our wet clothes in as little as 2 hours. And, no, we are not going to need a tumble dryer!
Alix Byrne, and Andrew, her partner live in an apartment with one bedroom. Like many of us, she was having a tough time managing all her laundry. She has several clothes hangers, but there was just not enough space to hang up all her items!
The Magic That Alix Found
One day, 24-year-old Alix was putting out her bedding to dry it. Thatâs when she had an epiphany. She had laid out her bedsheet on the clothes horse and placed the whole thing next to the radiator. She saw that this formed a hot air pocket. The clothes within that pocket dried in only 2 hours!
Alix called it âa eureka moment.â She explained that she was looking for places to hang up her bedsheet. The door of the kitchen was an option but that just made the clothes smell like âwhatever youâre cooking.â
She usually keeps her clothes frame beside the regulator, particularly during the winter. Thatâs when she thought:
âwhy not throw the bedsheet over the frame, tuck the ends behind the radiator and under the stands then the hot air from the radiator will dry my clothes in hours.â
She explains how they always have 2 clothes frames out at the same time because their lifestyle is quite busy. It makes them do a big amount of washing over a short time. This means they always have to struggle to find space to dry their clothes.
They also do have a tumble dryer. However, the costs are too high. Moreover, they donât really make the clothes smell too good. Here’s the clip:

Tumble Dryers Are Too Costly
Alix thinks that her hack will help people particularly because it saves the tumble dryersâ costs. Plus, during winter, the heating is on anyway. The hack saves space as well since the clothes would dry within a couple of hours. After that, the person can pack away the clothes horse again.
So now, our clothes can be completely dry unlike when we hang them for the typical 24 hours.
Alix had first shared her hack on Facebook. The post was soon liked over 4000 times. There were several comments on how users felt about the hack.
Some talked about how they had already been doing it:
âDone this for years itâs actually brilliant all my clothes dry so quick.â Others viewed it as nothing short of revolutionary: âWell this looks like a bloody game-changerâ.
To help out, even more, Alix shared some more tips. For those asking about dampness, she said that she uses a king sheet underneath a double bed sheet. So the entire clothes frame does not get covered and air can still pass. So the radiator can still heat up the room too. She says that people can also slightly open or place a dehumidifier beside it.
Finally, she does not think that the heat from a radiator is enough to start a fire. But for those who are worried about it, they can simply turn the heat down and pay attention to it.
