Old Millionaire Leaves $5.3M Mansion, Neither His Daughter nor Wife Inherits It – a Short Story

Wouldn’t it be nice to be a millionaire? For some people, acquiring money is all a part of their greedy personality. They just want more of it, and don’t care who they hurt to get it. Thankfully, we can usually count on karma to make her grand entrance and set things straight.

Today’s story was inspired by readers over of AmoMama, where it was originally published. It teaches us a valuable lesson about life. There is always some good to find out in the world. And, when you do enough good, it comes back to you. The same is true about the opposite. If you cause enough pain and sadness, it all comes back around.

Millionaire Makes a Choice

When Benny was 89-years-old, he made a call to his estate lawyer. As a long-time millionaire, Benny was familiar with needing lawyers now and again. His last and final act as a millionaire would be to finalize his will. So, Benny arranged everything he needed with his lawyer and signed the papers. Now, he could finally rest knowing his mansion and his $5.3 million dollars would be going where he wanted them to.

See, Benny faced a lot of ups and downs during his lifetime. He was once married to his high-school sweetheart. In fact, they were planning on being parents when tragedy struck. Benny and Minnie were in their mid-20s when Minnie told Benny she was pregnant. It wasn’t even a month later when a horrible car crash took both his wife and his child from him.

Benny took the life insurance he received and started a business named Minnie’s Designs, after his late wife. That’s where he earned his wealth and how he became a millionaire.

Meeting Janet

Janet could smell a millionaire a mile away. So, when Benny started eating lunch at the cafe she waited tables at, she knew she could land herself a big fish. She smelled money on him and she liked it.

Benny didn’t mind the attention. He was used to being treated differently for being a millionaire. However, he had been lonely for far too long, and wouldn’t mind some company. He was 85-years-old after all. So, he let Janet believe she had him fooled.

It wasn’t long after the two started dating. Benny was getting older and he knew he didn’t have many long years ahead of him. So, he and Janet got married after only dating for a year. Soon after, the two were going to have a child, and Benny was so excited. Janet was not happy about being a mom, but she knew that she had Bennie wrapped around her little finger since she gave him a kid. Bennie loved his new daughter and doted on her every second of the day and night.

Benny’s Last Wishes

Janet was always going on lavish cruises and buying expensive outfits. She would go through as much of Benny’s money as she wanted to and never gave it a second thought. Benny knew she was only using him for his money, but he was happy about having a daughter. So, there was a bright side for him.

When Benny started to fall ill, he hired a home nurse and caretaker named Anne. Janet really disliked Anne. She thought Anne was ‘lower-class’ and ‘dirty.’

Anne had a young son and the two of them were nearly homeless. They lived in a tiny caravan parked on the outskirts of town. There was no water or electricity, they had almost nothing since Anne’s husband stole it all and left them destitute.

Benny posted an ad asking for caretakers and when Anne responded, he knew he liked her. She was so gentle and kind. He immediately hired her and let her and her son move into the guesthouse downstairs.

Anne took care of Benny every single day till he passed away a few years later. Because of how she treated him, he knew he had to do something. So, that’s when he called his estate lawyer to finalize his final wishes.

Millionaire Shares Karmic Good

After Benny passed away, the family held a small funeral for his closest relatives and friends. Shortly after that, Janet approached the estate lawyer and asked for him to go over the will so she knew what she would be getting.

“Well, actually, you won’t be receiving anything I’m afraid.”

Confused, Janet asked if maybe the money was going to her daughter instead?

“No, sorry. Benny left his entire estate and mansion to Anne and her son. He left you and your daughter nothing.”

Janet ended up having to leave the mansion and the millionaire lifestyle behind forever. She moved into her parent’s house and became a waitress at a local cafe once again.
