Teenager Working at McDonald’s Pays for Mom Who’s in Tears, So She Comes Back with over $50k

Have you ever paid for someone else’s meal? Would you offer to help someone even if you could not afford it? Well, Wyatt Jones, who works at McDonald’s, chose to help a mother in need when she forgot her wallet. And it paid off in a way he could never imagine!

Brittany Reed and her three children went through the McDonald’s drive-through after football practice. Her four-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter started crying because they really did not want to eat at home. Brittany gave in and headed through to get some McD’s. Anything to get the kids to stop crying! Speaking to The Daily Mail, Mrs. Reed said:

“We go through the drive through order food all three kids are now crying for one reason or the other (and) I go to pay, I LEFT MY PURSE AT HOME.‘

An act of kindness

Brittany realized she would need to cancel her order, but to her surprise, the cashier at the window, 16-year-old Wyatt, offered to pay for it instead!

Once home, Brittany posted on Facebook about her experience and Wyatts kindness, singing his praises:

“I look at the young man [the cashier] with tears in my eyes just from being stressed and annoyed and say ‘hun I am so sorry but I have to cancel that order I left my purse at home when we went to football tonight.’ WITHOUT HESITATION he takes out his wallet and swipes his card before I could even say ‘no I will be right back!’”

The mother (back right) went home afterwards and got cash so that she could pay the employee for feeding her family

Paying it forward

Of course, Brittany offered to pay the young man back, even though at first he refused. Brittany came to learn that Wyatt was saving up to buy a car. So, she decided to set up a GoFundMe campaign to try to raise the funds.

We are setting this Go Fund Me up for him because we have recently found out that he is working at McDonald’s to save up to buy a car  and I want to pay it forward and show him the same type of kindness he showed me.

Her goal of $5,000 has now reached over a whopping $50,000 – a whole lot more than she expected! Wyatt even received an award from his employers (McDonald’s) for his act of kindness, as well as declaring October 7 ‘Wyatt Jones Day.’
