On April 11th, the Foxx family received some sorrowful news. Jamie Foxx’s daughter posted on her Instagram to inform fans that he had been hospitalized due to a medical complication. It is unclear exactly what happened to Jamie, but it is clear that he is dearly loved by his family and fans.
Jamie Foxx is rushed to hospital
The production of the new Netflix movie, Back in Action, was underway, and Jamie Foxx had been staying in Atlanta, Georgia, along with his co-stars, Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close. Director, Seth Gordon, had to pause the scenes with Foxx, due to his hospitalization.
Prior to the medical complication, he seemed to be doing just fine. This was suggested after he posted a picture of himself to his Instagram. He is happily chilling on his yacht, with no inclination that he was struggling physically. Although, one week later, he was lying in a hospital bed with a very different view. The world has been eager to find out what happened to Jamie, but so far, his family has released few details.
Corrine, Jamie Foxx’s daughter, posted to her Instagram account announcing her father’s health scare. “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” the 29-year-old wrote in the post’s caption. She said they were fortunate enough to catch whatever happened early enough for Jamie to be treated. “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
Friends Wish Him Well
Jamie Foxx is well-loved. His family came from out of town to see him while he was in the hospital and provided him with some much-needed support. More than that, his fans from aound the world have been posting their well-wishings on social media, hoping the beloved actor reaches his optimal health soon. Furthermore, other celebrities have shown their support by doing the same.
Kerry Washington co-starred with Jamie Foxx in the movie, Ray. She posted a photo of herself and her on-screen husband with the caption: “A [Jamie Foxx] appreciation post. Sending you all the love and prayers my movie huzbin.”
Jennifer Hudson, who played alongside Jamie Foxx in Dream Girls posted on her Instagram saying: “Lifting my friend @iamjamiefoxx and the Foxx family up in prayer ! We pray for healing in Jesus’ name! Sending u all the love in the world, Jamie!!!”
Additionally, LeBron James tweeted his love and support for his friend. He wrote: “Sending my thoughts and prayers to the heavens above to my brother [Jamie Foxx]!!!!” the NBA superstar wrote Thursday. “Get well and back to yourself SOONER THAN LATER! God willing.”
Still hospitalized but on the mend.
At this time, Foxx remains hospitalized, but it seems he is well on his way to recovery. A source had revealed that the doctors had been “running tests and still trying to figure out what exactly happened.” however, Corrine Foxx did update her Instagram to say her father was “on his way to recovery.
May 3rd update:
It has been three weeks since Jamie Foxx was rushed to the hospital following a “medical complication” and details are still unclear as to what exactly it was and what shape the actor is in, with updates few and far between. However, TMZ reports that those close to the Oscar winner are now asking fans to “Pray for Jamie.”
While this may seem like a dire request, a source told People last month, “He’s OK, thank God…He’s still in the hospital and doctors are running tests but he’s awake and alert. They’re keeping him under observation.” Still, coupled with the “Pray for Jamie” comment, one wonders just what sort of update will be provided the next time we hear about Jamie Foxx. After all, three weeks in the hospital despite being “awake and alert” may cause some concern for fans.
The incident occurred on April 11th while Foxx was filming his latest movie, Back in Action, which also co-stars Cameron Diaz in her return to the big screen in almost 10 years, having taken a hiatus to spend more time with her family. While Diaz returned to set, Jamie Foxx was replaced with a stunt and body double to help wrap production. Also as a result of his condition, Foxx has been replaced as the host for the next season of Beat Shazam, the Fox game show that pits contestants against the music-identifying app. Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, will also be stepping away from the show for the time being.
At the time of being taken to the hospital, Jamie Foxx’s daughter provided an update for fans: “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.
