The Solution
So, for the solution, we start with the first part: “when I was 4 years old, my brother was half my age.” This means that their brother was 2 (half of 4) years old when the person was 4 years old. This also means that their younger brother is younger by 2 years.
Then we take on the second part where we have to find out their brother’s age when they are 18. Since we know that the younger brother is 2 years younger, that means they are (18-2=) 16 years old.
And that is the answer: 16 years!
