Bindi Irwin has proved the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree when it comes to her daughter’s interests
She was born into the Irwin dynasty so it’s no surprise Bindi Irwin’s adorable daughter is a wildlife lover just like her mum and grandad before her.
Australia Zoo animal advocate and conservationist, Bindi, has thrilled fans by sharing a snap of her two-year-old daughter, Grace Warrior, cuddling up to a giant tortoise.
Proving the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, Bindi can be seen at a similar age to Grace in another photo, leaning on a tortoise like it’s her best friend.
Fans were quick to comment on the post, saying how proud Steve Irwin would have been of the mother-daughter duo.
“Our Grace Warrior, the Wildlife Warrior,” Bindi captioned the snap.
One fan replied: “It’s in the Irwin blood! You guys have the most beautiful connection with wildlife and each other! Steve Irwin genes are strong!”
Another fan said: “Your dad is probably so so proud looking down.”
A third wrote: “This gives me happy goosebumps babe.”
Bindi and Chandler’s exciting addition to the family
Earlier this month, Bindi and Chandler made the exciting announcement that they’ve welcomed a new addition to their family.
The couple shared a video on Instagram talking about the latest animal to join Australia Zoo, a Fijian crested iguana with an adorable name.
“Hey guys, Bindi and Chandler here, and we are joined by an incredibly special lizard,” Chandler said. “This is Kermit, the Fijian crested iguana.”
The 26-year-old explained that this species of iguana are “most arboreal”, meaning they live in trees, and they have long tails for balance.
“Their hands are designed for clinging onto tree branches and they’re such cute lizards, they have the personality of puppy dogs,” he laughed. “They’re one of my favourite animals on planet Earth. It never gets old hanging out with Fijian crested iguanas.”
Bindi undergoes major surgery
In March, Bindi revealed that she had undergone major surgery after a secret 10-year battle with endometriosis. The chronic illness has caused the 24-year-old “insurmountable fatigue, pain and nausea”.
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of your uterus grows elsewhere. Australia’s Department of Health and Aged Carestates that it can cause ‘debilitating pain’, and notes that it “affects at least one in nine girls and women and those assigned female at birth”.
Alongside a snap of herself lying in a hospital bed after surgery, Bindi opened up about the entire process in the caption.
“Dear Friends, I battled for a long time wondering if I should share this journey with you in such a public space. It came down to the responsibility I feel to share my story for other women who need help,” she began.
“For 10 years I’ve struggled with insurmountable fatigue, pain and nausea. Trying to remain a positive person and hide the pain has been a very long road…a doctor told me it was simply something you deal with as a woman and I gave up entirely, trying to function through the pain.”
“To cut a long story short, they found 37 lesions, some very deep and difficult to remove, and a chocolate [endometriotic] cyst. [The doctor’s] first words to me when I was in recovery were, ‘How did you live with this much pain?’,” she wrote.
