Amber Heard Says She Still Loves Johnny Depp

Amber Heard made some pretty wild claims about her marriage with Johnny Depp. During the defamation trial where both parties sued each other, she proclaims her love for Johnny never died.

Amber and Johnny were Married 15 Months

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met in 2011 while Johnny was filming “The Rum Diaries”. Subsequently, they started dating in 2012. Amber spoke about how she felt when she met him in an interview with People. “I felt like this man knew me, saw me, in a way no one else had,” recalled Amber. She then added: “When I was around Johnny I felt like the most beautiful person in the world. It made me feel seen. It made me feel like a million dollars.”

The two were married in 2015, after secretly dating for some time due to Depp’s breakup with Vanessa Paradis not being made public. Their wedding took place on a private island. However, a mere 15 months later, the actress filed for a divorce. Later in 2018 she wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post and described herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse“.

Johnny Depp ultimately sued her for defaming his character. He and his lawyers were asking for $ 50 million. Amber Heard retaliated by counter-suing Johnny Depp for $100million. Throughout the trial, many horrific events were highlighted, and Amber came forward with claims of sexual and physical abuse. Johnny Depp’s legal team managed to win the case, however Amber says she still loves him regardless of all the trauma she claimed to experience throughout their relationship, and the trial.

I still have love for Johnny

This week, Amber Heard made an appearance on the Today Show. The host, Savannah Guthrie, made a reference to one of Amber’s statements during the trial: “I still have love for Johnny.”

Savannah asked her if that statement was still true, and Amber replied: “Absolutely. I love him.” She added: “I loved him with all my heart and I tried the best I could to make a deeply broken relationship work, and I couldn’t. I have no bad feelings or ill will toward him at all.”

Amber went on to talk about the trial. She said the result did not matter because she felt she did the right thing by standing up for herself and speaking her truth. However, she did say that the ruling was a setback for all women who have accused anyone of sexual or physical abuse. In an Instagram post, amber wrote:

The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I am heartbroken that the mountain of evidence was still not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, and sway of my ex-husband

I am even more disappointed by what this verdict means for other women, because it is a set-back. It sets back the clock to a time where a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously.”
